Track Of The Day: Limerick band ‘Left On Read’ prepare to release new single ‘Dreams’

Dreams’ is a journey through the grief that accompanies the loss of a loved one, from the initial shock and sadness to, ultimately, perseverance and gratitude for the memories and lessons learned. The song boasts emotional lyrics with powerful vocals and soaring guitars worthy of the rock ballads of Queen, Prince or John Mayer.

Track of The Day: Dreams is the brand new single from Left On Read due for release on Friday November 17th

“I didn’t really have any goals or expectations for this song to start out,” admits Steven Tynan, lead singer of the band. “I sort of wrote it for myself, to help come to terms with losing my grandfather. It wasn’t until years later, when the guys heard it, that they convinced me that people needed to hear it.”

On the inspiration, he continues: “It literally came out of a dream I had about my grandfather after he passed. I knew it was a dream but I didn’t care, it was just nice to see him again… A little bit on the nose I guess!”

Hailing from Limerick, Ireland, Left on Read began as a series of impromptu jams between friends at sessions and open mics in their city. “It was a no-brainer to start a band with our best mates,” the band recalls. “We were just having so much fun”.

Forming in 2020 with the goal of working on a couple of demos together, the band has developed their sound far beyond those humble beginnings.

The band’s love for experimentation has allowed them the opportunity to play with different styles and they already have a huge catalogue of music in their locker ready to call on.

In 2021 the band was awarded Creative Ireland’s ‘Made in Limerick’ Grant, which gave them the opportunity to head into the studio to record their debut. Finally, in July 2022, Left on Read released their debut single ‘Never Enough’, followed by ‘Pick Yourself Up’, ‘Duet’ and ‘Most of All’.

‘Dreams’, the bands 5th single is set for release on the 17th of November 2023.

The song sees the band showing an emotional side, and has proven a big hit on the live circuit. “Every time we’ve played live this summer people have asked about this track.” the band says. “I guess it’s about time we give them what they’ve been asking for.”

After marking the end of 2022 by being named the recipients of the Dolores O’Riordan Music Award from Limerick City and County Council, Left on Read are ready to capitalise on their work so far with a host of releases already planned for 2024.

“We want them to connect with it” the band says of their listeners, “Not necessarily take our message from our music at face value but rather to be able to apply it to their own experiences. Most of all we want them to be heard.
