Our next feature comes all the way from Belfast, Alice La writes and records her own music. Her sound features a lot of electronic pop mixed with acoustic pop music. Alice La has recently been hyped as “Ones to Watch” on the Northern Ireland music scene.
Alice LA is making capital from the material world. She revels in the colour and shapes and the tech-babble, but she is not a passive consumer. Alice LA is at home in pop culture, but she also retains the right to be arch and subversive.
According to Alice, “I like doing silly things,” she figures. “I’ve always been doing drama or art. My template would be a mellow version of Lady Gaga. She’s not gonna sound the same for her whole music career. I want to show every musician that I can do any sound. I don’t want to stick with anything. That’s no fun.”
Though her connection to the Oh Yeah Music Centre in Belfast she graduated from the Music Potential programme with Capital XTRA. She set up a home studio and played a gig at KOKO in London. Now with the help of Oh Yeah’s Scratch programme, Alice LA has released the alt-gospel affections of ‘Mr. Summer Solstice’, another ambitious reach.
With a new single due out in March of this year 2019 looks set to be a busy
year for ALICE LA.
