Only recent we discovered POWPIG! Some might call their music experimental shoe-gaze, we just think they are downright good!
Formed in May of 2017, Powpig are a four-piece from Limerick City; Anna Marie Rooney, Andreea Mocanu, Laura Drennan and Leah O’Donnell
Powpig are as comfortable swaying away to slow alt rock wonder “Rosalee” from their debut EP “Denture Adventure” as they are rocking out to unblushing, hysterical rock track “Blue Man Child” from the same releases. Their second EP “Buzz Buzz” was released in May 2018 and their newly released split single in March 2019 with Junior brother has made this 4 piece ever more popular, with more recordings in the pipeline.
Having supported acts such as Pillow Queens, Mongoose, Whenyoung and Paddy Hanna, Powpig played the Irish Times podcast with Roisin Ingle on top of a late night slot at the Body&Soul festival. In 2018 they were also voted in as the Viewer’s Choice Act for the Other Voice’s IMRO Other Room. Always in demand, Powpig have played an impressive range of venues all over the country such as Whelans, The Workman’s club, The Grand Social, Roisin Dubh, Dolans and Debarra’s to mention but a few.
Be sure to catch the band when they will be performing at the Electric Picnic Festival
