Mayo band Billow Wood’s new single was inspired by young boy who lost his life in an accidental drowning

The brand new single from Billow Wood has a lot of meaning. Highlighting the dangers of water safety and water related deaths in Ireland is never a bad thing, especially during warm weather and the Irish summer which, unfortunately is a high occurrence in Ireland.

Today Billow Wood   releases  of their newest single “Coldest Water”.

Coldest Water is a stripped back track that pays homage to the bands traditional roots, with a powerful acoustic feel married with electric guitar and percussion which includes a rousing instrumental that creates a true folk fusion feel, while telling a sorrowful story.

Mayo band Billow Wood’s new song ‘Coldest Water’ was inspired by the loss of Aaron O’Donnell at a young age due to an accidental drowning.

“I searched for miles but you weren’t around, so I sat still on this cold hard ground”

This song was inspired by the loss of Aaron O’Donnell at a young age due to an accidental drowning.

Although the chorus suggests that “in the coldest water you are barely alive” the final lyrics of the song tell us that he will be kept alive in memory; “In the coldest water i’ll keep you alive, i’ll keep you alive”.

Aaron lost his life at the young age of 3 years old after falling into a river outside his house in Co.Mayo.

Billow Wood had many exciting tours and projects lined up for 2020, which were cancelled due to the current Covid Pandemic. They have been working on keeping an online presence and working towards showcasing their new album “Walls of Caves’ in 2021.
