Remembering George Floyd, Kevin Casey Releases dark protest song against Police brutality.

The song opens with chilling audio footage of the arrest before a haunting harmonica beckons the listener to partake and reflect on this shameful moment for humanity.

For the first time Casey introduces the use of a drum sample which was purposely put off beat to recreate the fading heartbeat of George Floyd.

A piano hook reminiscent of a Tupac Shakur song instantly grips your emotions before the sharp lyrics come in to play to remind us of another day within an already turbulent year that the world had to hold its breath.

Remembering George Floyd, Kevin Casey Releases dark protest song against Police brutality.

On May 25th, 2020 George Perry Floyd Jr. was murdered by police during an arrest after a store clerk suspected he may have used a counterfeit $20 bill.During the arrest, a police officer with the Minneapolis Police Department, knelt on Floyd’s neck for nine minutes and 29 seconds to the shock of bystanders.

It wasn’t too long before footage of this brutal arrest was picked up by media outlets and appeared online and then as the opening lines of the song suggests ‘soon there’ll be consequences out on the streets’ this led to widespread anger and protest.

With the support of the Black lives matter movement Floyd’s murder led to worldwide protests against police brutality, police racism, and lack of police accountability.

There is a big race problem in the world, even within the world of law and order, how can those who are our protectors be those who take our lives from us as the second verse suggests, At the best of times the street can be a dangerous place for anyone but luckily in our country we don’t need to fear for our lives because of our skin colour, Sadly in the U.S ,people are not as fortunate. No redemption can be offered to the Police officer who murdered George Floyd, and none should but this is something that the whole world needs to work on changing says Casey.

The whole world is watching is released on all major streaming platforms now.
