Track Of The Day: ‘DEA MATRONA’ release second single ‘Black Rain’ from upcoming album

Dea Matrona say about the single: “‘Black Rain’ stemmed from a writing session we had a few years ago. It’s that feeling when your heart sinks. A feeling that everyone gets. Like a lump in your throat when you’re walking alone and think ‘I shouldn’t be here’ or when you’re with someone that might be bad for you & you start to feel scared. You can’t really pin down where this feeling started but it’s a sense of feeling trapped like maybe there’s no going back”

Track Of The Day: Irish rock duo Dea Matrona release new single ‘Black Rain’ , the second offering from their highly-anticipated debut album ‘For Your Sins’ , out 3rd May.

Dea Matrona have always been an exciting proposition. A duo that pushes boundaries of genres in an authentic yet nostalgic way, their debut album ‘For Your Sins’ bestows a passion project like no other. An album that bridges together an intoxicating blend of indie pop and rock with superb sophistication, influences from Fleetwood Mac, HAIM, The White Stripes and Arctic Monkeys drench through. From the thumping and prowling ‘So Damn Dangerous’ to the whimsical pop wonder ‘Every Night I Want You’, the low strums of ‘Black Rain’ to the country swing of ‘Won’t Feel Like This Forever’, it delivers a slice of everything. The album is a completely self-made labour of love, with the band writing, recording and producing the album themselves.

Easily a Dea Matrona classic for long-time fans but the perfect introduction for newcomers, it is set to draw one and all into Dea Matrona’s infectious aura.

Dea Matrona comprises two school friends, Mollie McGinn and Orlaith Forsythe, who grew up busking to their favourite rock ‘n’ roll anthems on the streets of Belfast covering the likes of Led Zeppelin’s ‘Whole Lotta Love’and Simon & Garfunkel’s ‘Homeward Bound’ . They have amassed an online community of over 500,000 followers and racked up over 8 million views on YouTube. Their infectious and very honest style on Tik Tok saw them clock up over 5.5 million views on this video , and lead to them being Tik Tok Artist of the Week.

With their hard hitting riffs and musical intensity they have established a rare, sensational sound – gritty and real but loaded with melody and style, which has so far garnered press support from Clash, The New Cue, The Independent, XS Noise, MusicRadar and more.

The album will be available to buy on a variety of vinyl, CD and cassette formats. Pre-order here
