Dopplers summer single “About You” was on heavy rotation on Irish radio and made the RTÉ Radio 1’s Recommend List for several weeks and was consistently in the Top 5 of the Monthly Airplay chart for several weeks.
John Creedon played the track on his show 2 nights in a row and compared their sound to that of The Waterboys. Coincidentally Doppler played a sold out Ballina Arts Centre alongside The Waterboys legendary fiddle player Steve Wickham in recent months as well as supporting The Stunning & Alabama 3’s Irish tour.
International dates and festival slots for 2024 are on the horizon for the harmony driven Alt-Irish Folk act.
Doppler’s previous release “It’s Your Fault Too” spent last summer receiving massive airplay across all major Irish radio stations ( RTÉ Radio 1, Today FM, 2FM to name a few) as well as being featured on Hot Press, RTÉ Culture, RTÉ Entertainment, JOE.ie, Irish Times & several print publications and music blogs here and internationally.
Jamie commented “Myself and Mick recorded the audio for this out live in Pontoon using just a condenser mic (for 30 quid) and the laptop in early Dec 2023. Just the 2 guitars and our vocals using this one cheap mic. It was -3 outside and our fingers were frozen at this stage as this was the 4th song we recorded that day. This clip was the 2nd take and this will be part of a live series we hope to continue over the next little while.
You can hear the breeze coming across the lake at times but we wanted to leave the whole thing unedited as we wanted the recording to be raw. Our good friend Fionn Rogers filmed us all that morning and he was frozen by the end of it.
He’s class and you should look him up. The hope was to try and get reflections on the lake at this location but instead it was freezing fog. Still, we think it turned out “accidentally Wes Anderson”. This is a stripped back acoustic version of our upcoming single.. We hope to share it with you all in late Jan 2024. Thank you for listening”
After Hot Press premiered Doppler’s debut single ” A Memory” the video sparked a “phenomenal reaction” according to HP’s A&R Dept main man Stuart Clark. The Specials guitarist Horace Panter also struck an unlikely connection with Doppler and is now a legit fan after stumbling across them. “A Memory” spent several weeks at the top of the RTÉ Monthly Airplay Chart and the track has since amassed over 125,000 plays on Spotify. Doppler signed a publishing dealwith the Dublin based music publishing company The Nucleolus.
Doppler have shared the stage with the likes of The Stunning,Gavin James, Alabama 3, Neil Hannon, Cathy Davey, Steve Wickham ( The Waterboys), The Blizzards & The Saw Doctors and have also performed with Oasis’ cult member Bonehead on several occasions. They’re also winners of the IMRO Clancy Brother Song Contest.
