We have just being given an exclusive listen to the brand new track from Lisa Gorry, and all we can say is that Irish music fans are in for a real treat when Lisa’s new single hits online on March 3rd!!
Following the success of her debut single “Parts” last year, Kildare native Lisa Gorry is back with her second single, “down”. Teaming up once more with Kevin Brennan of Wavefarm Productions, she demonstrates a more developed sound in this powerful track.
On the message behind the track, Gorry explains that it is an extension of the story first shared with her debut: a step forward on the journey of love and loss:
“down is really about that voice in your head that you don’t listen to enough; the positive voice, the voice I think we all need to listen to a little more. There’s a pressure to be on top of things all the time and to almost ignore the fact that you’ve had to make mistakes and fall apart for things to become clear. I’ve learned that we can only do the best we can with what we know at the time and so it’s alright to be messy or lost or down so long as you know it’s not permanent and there is always a way up.”
Gorry is no stranger to the Dublin open mic scene, where she cut her songwriting teeth. Having graced The Ruby Sessions stage more than once, and selling out the Vintage Room of the Workmans Club for her debut single launch, her hyper-sentimental lyrics and emotive performance style have earned her a deserved reputation as one to watch for 2020.
“Wouldn’t be surprised if she is picked to Play Other Voices on RTE this Autumn… [fabulous voice] will leave you amazed…” Finbar Hoban
“…this talented vocalist is definitely going to be the next big export from the suburban county’s after Lisa Hannigan blew onto the scene a decade ago. It’s hard not to make Hannigan comparisons about Lisa Gorry on first listen, she is right up there – what an absolute treat of a voice!” The Sound Sniffer
