Low Again’ will be available to stream from Friday, 24th February 2023. This mellow indie-folk tune from Dublin based guitarist and singer-songwriter Dubh Lee explores how we seek each other out online for comfort and distraction.

Recorded at Ailfionn Recording Studio, Dublin 3, ‘Low Again’ is the first single from Dubh Lee’s debut EP, Animals and Friends, which will be released on 28th April 2023. A second single from the EP will be released in March.

Track of the Day: Dubh Lee reflects on the ebb and flow of virtual connection with new single ‘Low Again’

Ahead of the release of her new single, Dubh Lee has said “Initially, I began writing the lyrics as a gentle admonishment of one of my friends for only reaching out when they were feeling low. I then go on to deride my own online behaviour; flirting with people online out of boredom or when my relationship with my significant other was unstable.”

While the opening verses of ‘Low Again’ take a pessimistic perspective of online communication, the track ends with a more hopeful slant. This emotional shift in the final verse is reflected in a more sentimental chord progression with the final chorus modulating upward in a celebration of our drive for human connection.

“The third verse came after a close friend suffered a death in their family and shortly after moved to another town; it expresses my wish that they would seek me out for comfort.”

The singer will promote this single as well as the upcoming EP with a spring tour that will include dates in Dublin, Belfast, Athlone, Kilkenny and more, with a total of 11 shows to be announced in March.
