MAYO BORN SINGER SONGWRITER LISA CANNY IS READY TO TAKE CASTLEBAR BY STORM NEXT SATURDAY!!

Lisa Canny recently took The Late Late show by storm when she performed on the longest running chat show in the world (yes in the world) only a few weeks ago! Causing an online and media frenzy  with fans and viewers  alike when her slot was rescheduled to the following week due to a pointless Botox exercise that ran over-time on the show by a “celebrity” (whom we wont mention) ,  And no, lets get one thing straight Lisa wasn’t having the Botox procedure done!)  And we here at Finbar Hoban Presents do not think Lisa  will ever need it! But all in all this worked in Lisa’s favour  as she returned to the show the following week and amazed audiences in TV land throughout Ireland with her powerful version of “Stay” from Lisa Loeb, Lisa Canny’s popularity  continues to grow ever since!

Lisa Canny is not just  great performer, not only is Lisa Canny a great performer, she is a great musician, a great singer songwriter and a  rather excellent entertainer, A champion of the Harp instrument for the past 18 years  (and the banjo for even longer),  a truly intelligent person and very proud of her Mayo roots. Now based in London working on her music career which will see Lisa announcing a string of UK and Irish dates in the not too distant future.  She likes to curse onstage just like Adele, (but who doesn’t)  but that does not stop her from wanting to entertain you, she wants  to make you smile with an outrageously funny sense of humour that is a “must like” for fans and newcomers of the artist! All at the same time taking her music and live performance seriously.

This is why when Lisa Canny steps out onto the stage on Saturday February 25th at The Garbo’s Venue in Castlebar you can be guaranteed you are going to get 100% from an outstanding performer! For those of you who are not familiar with Lisa Canny let us give you a brief history of Lisa and her background. Lisa Canny grew up listening to all the firm favourites from the 80’s  that included Cyndai Lauper “Goonies r good enough” (remember that track?)  and “Girls Just Wanna Fun! “Time after Time” and other artists such as the award winning Eurythmics, (Sweets Dreams) right through to Lisa Loeb’s   “Stay, I Missed you” from the nineties  and many more. At the same time Lisa Canny writes her own original material. Lisa is currently in LA and has being spotted just recently in an LA studio with R&B dance pop artist Akon just this week leading to rumours speculating that the pair maybe ready to collaborate on a future album together.

Lisa Canny will be performing at The Garbo’s Venue  Castlebar  Saturday February 25th with tickets on sale now from Downtown Records and Hogs Heaven Bar Castlebar, Tickets also available from Tickets.ie

THE BEGINNING:

Lisa Canny was was born in Co. Mayo. She began showing a big interest in music from a very young age, teaching herself tunes on the piano. Having noted her musical ability Lisa’s national school principal, Sean Nestor, presented a then 5-year-old Lisa with a small banjo and encouraged her to take classes.  Bernie and Holly Geraghty taught Lisa for over ten years, passing onto her a great understanding, love, and passion for traditional Irish music.

Throughout the years, Lisa competed in many singing competitions. She trained for a short period at the Performing Arts School of Galway but never received any other form of professional vocal training. She believes that she learnt to ‘hold a note’ from her mother Áine and extended family on both sides.
